We are not even in to 2010 just yet (I know it’s only 3 days away) but CHRIS BERRY is going to be playing even more gigs! Not only is he currently completing JOE LONGTHORNE’s AUTOBIOGRAPHY and back in studio recording new material, CHRIS is also currently negotiating a Spanish Tour, as well as adding to a UK list that already sees FOG playing 40 gigs, CMC 20 and a further 20 SOLO gigs.

Chris Berry’s FOG play in Thorner & Scholes for Christmas

Chris Berry’s renowned melodic rock party/functions band plays two fantastic gigs in the lead-up to Christmas. They are both home ground venues for the band that plays around 50 gigs a year. ‘We are playing @ The Mex in Thorner and The Buffers in Scholes on Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 December respectively’ said Chris. ‘It will be the first time that FOG has played in The Mexborough Arms, in Thorner for nearly a year and we’re hoping that all of those who used to turn out for our Sunday evening shows will be back! The Buffers on Wednesday 23 December should be even better! We have a huge following in the area and people love our brand of really happy, enthusiastic party stuff. We want everyone to dance, dance, dance – and they do.’ For both gigs you would be well advised to arrive early if you want somewhere to sit. These will be FOG’s last two gigs of the year – but they already have over 40 booked in for 2010 and will be seen at both The Mex and The Buffers once again. But these are the Christmas shows – and the band are buzzing!  Both nights will commence somewhere between 9pm – 9.30pm. Best time to arrive would be around 8 – 8.30pm at both venues. With an extensive diary of corporate & social balls to play for in the next 3 weeks the 4-piece are looking forward to  a fantiastic end to 2009 – when they play 3 dates in 6 days in the lead up to Christmas at their 3 most popular venues. ‘We’re playing in Doncaster, at one of our favourite venues on the Friday before Christmas, at the Horse & Groom – and then we have our two local venues in two days just before Christmas Eve! The UK’s acoustic music scene has seen nothing like part UK based CMC. The pairing of Chris Berry and Mick Clarke has earned a great deal of plaudits in recent times and this Friday 20 November sees them returning to their home ground for the first time this year!

 ‘Mick lives in Spain these days,’ says Chris. ‘So we only generally get chance to gig together for a month at a time when he’s back home. This will be our fifth gig in the past 15 days and no matter where we’ve played we have had a brilliant reception. Our brand of acoustic music and Mick’s excellent harmonies surprises our audiences and the radio stations seem to like it too. We have recently appeared on BBC Radio Leeds, York, Humberside, Tees and Minster FM – including being the ‘house band’ for James Watts’ shows. We are really looking forward to Friday evening’s show which will be  at our local pub THE BUFFERS in SCHOLES, near Leeds on Friday.’ CMC have earned more than just a good reputation in their 4 years as a different act to the norm, they are also rumoured to be performing as the openers to fantastic UK legend Joe Longthorne’s UK TOUR next year. ‘We would absolutely love that,’ says Chris. ‘We both really admire Joe. The research has been completed, the book deal has been signed, the book cover is under way. It’s all full steam ahead for a March release of Joe Longthorne’s first ever OFFICIAL AUTOBIOGRAPHY, written by his good friend, journalist, novelist, writer and also singer in his own right Chris Berry.

 ‘It’s a tremendously exciting time,’ says Joe. ‘This is my first ever proper opportunity to tell my story – the highs, the lows, the tragedy, the humour. The great times – that I’m having now – and some of those bad, bad times. It will tell it like it is – apart from what the solicitors tell me I can’t say!!’ Chris has been working closely with Joe since April, following the story he wrote about Joe which appeared in the Yorkshire Post earlier this year. ‘Joe’s life has been a real rollercoaster ride. This really, truly is one of those books that everyone – true fans and general public alike – will not want to put down once they’ve started. Joe is a tremendous personality, as well as being a wonderful entertainer and a great man who has suffered more than most. But his career is currently on an upturn once again and this book should see him firmly back in the public eye – and hopefully back on TV, where I feel AN AUDIENCE WITH JOE LONGTHORNE would work very well. He is supported by many of the best known names in TV, Film, Music and Sport, even Politics. But for me the hard work starts now! Whilst Joe embarks on his pre-Christmas tour I will be putting together the book, which we hand over to the publishers on 14 January.’  Chris is also an accomplished singer who plays in 2 acts – FOG – a hugely popular and sought after melodic rock functions covers band, and an equally impressive acoustic act – CMC – which plays acoustic versions of hit songs throughout the pop years from the 50s to 2000s. Chris Berry’s CMC extends Autumn & Winter tour

Following three fantastic gigs in the past 12 days, and neatly fitting in a trip to Iceland at the same time (no, not the freezer centre, the actual Iceland) Chris Berry’s acoustic act CMC has extended its Yorkshire dates for November & December. ‘We’ve had such a great reaction to our shows that the bookings just keep coming in,’ says Chris, who together with Mick Clarke, has been performing as CMC once again. ‘We give audiences a really different kind of night. It’s not full-on band stuff, just acoustic guitars and voices and encouraging the audience to be involved singing along. We do everything from 50s Buddy Holly, Elvis to 2000s including Fratellis, Zutons, Killers. But our audiences really love the party-type stuff. American Pie, I Love To Boogie, Dancing in the Dark. And we do a load of stuff that no other acts ever think about doing as acoustic versions of hits. It makes for a great night and that’s why we’re getting booked even more regularly.’  There is talk of CMC possibly appearing as the opener for legendary singer Joe Longthorne’s UK tour next year as Chris is presently writing Joe’s autobiography, so watch this space. Chris is also lead singer with the hugely successful melodic functions rock covers band FOG who also play throughout the north of England and have masses of dates also lined up between now and Christmas, as well as 30 bookings for 2010 already.
