Chris Berry’s FOG play in Thorner & Scholes for Christmas

December 14, 2009

Chris Berry’s renowned melodic rock party/functions band plays two fantastic gigs in the lead-up to Christmas. They are both home ground venues for the band that plays around 50 gigs a year. ‘We are playing @ The Mex in Thorner and The Buffers in Scholes on Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 December respectively’ said Chris. ‘It will be the first time that FOG has played in The Mexborough Arms, in Thorner for nearly a year and we’re hoping that all of those who used to turn out for our Sunday evening shows will be back! The Buffers on Wednesday 23 December should be even better! We have a huge following in the area and people love our brand of really happy, enthusiastic party stuff. We want everyone to dance, dance, dance – and they do.’ For both gigs you would be well advised to arrive early if you want somewhere to sit. These will be FOG’s last two gigs of the year – but they already have over 40 booked in for 2010 and will be seen at both The Mex and The Buffers once again. But these are the Christmas shows – and the band are buzzing!  Both nights will commence somewhere between 9pm – 9.30pm. Best time to arrive would be around 8 – 8.30pm at both venues. The Buffers is also a restaurant so if you want to book in for before the show your best times would be between 5.30pm – 7.30pm    www.chrisberrysingerandwriter.wordpress.com   www.myspace.com/chrisberrysinger   www.myspace.com/cmcacoustic   www.the-fog.talktalk.net    Email: chris@chrisberry.tv    Chris is also on Facebook and Twitter    Chris also writes for the Yorkshire Post every weekl and is currently writing THE JOE LONGTHORNE STORY

Chris Berry plays FOX & HOUNDS in Boroughbridge THIS SATURDAY 19 DECEMBER

December 14, 2009

He might be seen as lead singer of FOG, CMC and FOG ACOUSTIC, but Chris Berry is also a solo performer and has been performing under his own name over the last two weeks.

Chris Berry plays The Fox & Hounds, Boroughbridge Saturday 19 December

This Saturday sees Chris follow up his sensational night @ The Mex in Thorner (Sat 12 Dec) with another barnstorming performance in prospect @ the FOX & HOUNDS, which is situated in Langthorpe, BOROUGHBRIDGE, North Yorkshire. Landlord Richard says: ‘Chris is a superb entertainer. He’s one of the few guys that play in bands who can then come out onhis own and win over an audience. It doesn’t matter how many are in he sees it as his objective that everyone should enjoy his performance.’ Chris has been playing with the other 3 acts for the past 5 years but is clearly enjoying his solo sets. ‘You really can have such great fun with people and in my nights the audience still gets up to dance even though it’s just me and my electro acoustic guitar. I am thoroughly looking forward to Saturday. Last Saturday’s gig in The Mex was nothing short of amazing. It was packed and they’re all going to be back there when I play again in the early part of next year!’  Chris plays a whole range of styles and eras from 50s to current day – Buddy Holly to Kings of Leon and everything in between – and there’s plenty of great singa long tunes too.. The fun starts @ the FOX & HOUNDS around 9pm.   www.chrisberrysingerandwriter.wordpress.com   www.myspace.com/chrisberrysinger   www.myspace.com/cmcacoustic    www.the-fog.talktalk.net     Chris is also on Facebook & Twitter   Email: chris@chrisberry.tv

Chris Berry’s Big Success @ The Mex in Thorner

December 14, 2009

What a fantastic night in The Mexborough Arms in Thorner last Saturday 12 December – absolutely packed out and a brilliant evening of entertainment.

Chris Berry - Great Night in Thorner

Chris Berry, lead singer with leading melodic rock covers band FOG and acoustic acts CMC and FOG ACOUSTIC, brought his own solo brand of hits from all decades. Sporting a brand new Ovation Celebrity Deluxe and specialist harmony vocals provided through yet another piece of new kit Chris wowed Thorner locals and those from outside the village with two superb sets which, even though this was just one man and one guitar, had the audience on its feet dancing the night away. ‘I really thoroughly enjoyed the night’ said Chris. ‘When you play somewhere and you’ve normally played with others it can sometimes be a bit odd, but Saturday night was just great. I can’t wait to do it all again.’ The comments back from those in The Mex crowd included: ‘We’ve not been in here for ages. We always used to come in for the music nights. You were great. When are you back?’ and ‘You have such an amazing voice. I’ve loved every minute of you tonight.’ and ‘You are not only a great entertainer, but you are also a lovely man. We love you Chris!’   Chris is back with his band FOG on Tuesday 22 December for a pre-Christmas gig and will be back solo there next year – and also with CMC and FOG.  If you missed Chris’ solo gig at The Mex last Saturday why not try The Fox & Hounds, Langthorpe, Boroughbridge this Saturday 19 DEcember. It all starts there @ 9pm.     www.chrisberrysingerandwriter.wordpress.com   www.myspace.com/chrisberrysinger   www.myspace.com/cmcacoustic   www.the-fog.talktalk.net     Chris is also on Facebook & Twitter   Email: chris@chrisberry.tv

66,700 reasons why Joe Longthorne’s book is closer to being completed

December 14, 2009

Amazing entertainer and the best balladeer in Britain, Joe Longthorne, is edging ever closer to having his first ever autobiography completed.

Joe Longthorne in concert @ Royal Leamington Spa 2009

Chris Berry, a good friend of Joe’s and a singer in his own right, is the author who is ghost-writing the book on Joe’s behalf and last week saw the book reach 66,700 words.  ‘I’ve just reached 2001 in Joe’s timeline,’ says Chris. ‘Which means there is so much still left to tell. Joe’s life has been one long, huge emotional rollercoaster ride and he is presently on another upturn in his career. His story tells of the rag-and-bone origins to the platinum selling albums – his subsequent demise, his illnesses and the long and winding road back to the top. Throughout it all his fans have remained stoically loyal and remain so to this day. His bisexuality, his drug taking, his bankruptcy, his nervous breakdown, his court appearances – nothing has ever altered his fans opinion of him. They love ‘Our Joe’.’   The book, provisionaly titled ‘JOE LONGTHORNE The Official Autobiography’ is due to be published in late March. Provisional dates for the book release : A limited number of advance copies will be available around 19 March 2010, with all pre-ordered copies available 26 March – 1 April  2010.  The book is being published by Great Northern Books. Copies will be available to order through Joe Longthorne direct soon. Further details should be available later this week.   www.chrisberrysingerandwriter.wordpress.co.uk   www.myspace.com/chrisberrysinger    www.myspace.com/cmcacoustic   www.the-fog.talktalk.net    Chris is also on Facebook & Twitter    Email: chris@chrisberry.tv

Chris Berry plays SOLO @ The ‘MEX’ this Saturday 12th!

December 7, 2009

No 4-piece band (FOG) … No duo (CMC)… No trio (sometimes CMC and FOG ACOUSTIC) …. this Saturday sees Chris Berry – one of Yorkshire and the North of England’s hardest working entertainers take on the might of The ‘MEX’ @ the Mexborough Arms in Thorner, just 2 miles out of Leeds!

Chris Berry - solo gig this Saturday 12 December live @ THE MEX, Mexborough Arms, THORNER, Leeds

‘It’s going to be quite a different night without the lads… and Charlotte, who’s just had a baby,’ says Chris who regularly plays all over the UK with Andy, Pete & Mick from FOG and FOG ACOUSTIC – and Mick and Charlotte in CMC. ‘This time it’s just me! A night of great pop tunes played with just me and the electro acoustic guitar. But don’t fool yourselves, it’s certainly not going to be a downbeat night. I’ve quite a few tricks up my sleeve and the evening should give everyone a real feelgood factor. I’m looking forward to every bit of it and there will be such a lot involved.’ For those who are not aware of the range that Chris sings during his concerts here’s just a taster of some of the songs he may be singing, but his show changes EVERY night: American Pie, Brown Eyed Girl, Oliver’s Army, Valerie, Sex on Fire, Twist & Shout, Mack the Knife, Dancing in the Dark, I Will Survive, All Right Now, California Dreamin’, The Gambler, Wonderful Tonight, Losing My Religion, Beyond The Sea, Come On Over To My Place, Use Somebody, The Lady is a Tramp. ‘Like I said, there will be a few surprises on the night,’ says Chris. It all gets under way around 9-9.30pm on Saturday 12 december. Admission is Free. The Mexborough Arms is a lovely village pub run by two wonderful people – Paul and Sue, who are trying to bring the pub back to past glories having gone back in after being away for the past 2 years. Your support is always welcome! Keep pubs and live music alive!!   Chris is also presently writing legendary UK entertainer Joe Longthorne’s autobiography – Joe is playing a gig nearby the following evening in Bradford so if anyone is coming to Bradford for the Sunday, but would like to check out Chris on the Saturday night this is an ideal opportunity. Chris Berry reaches 55,000 on Joe Longthorne’s book!

December 7, 2009

Legend of UK show business Joe Longthorne is looking forward to a fantastic 2010! Next year Joe will be touring the US and Australia as well as his UK tour and Summer season. He is also receiving the Variety Club’s highest accolade – the Silver Heart award.

Joe Longthorne @ The Grand Theatree, Leeds earlier this year

What many fans will also be looking forward to is his first ever official autobiography which is to be released in March and his good friend Chris Berry, a renowned journalist/writer and fellow entertainer, is writing it on his behalf. ‘Joe’s life has seen all manner of ups and downs, twists and turns, and I am certain that it will be not only essential reading for his thousands of loyal fans, but also for everyone who ever has an interest in rags-to-riches-to rags and then getting back to being on a level par again,’ says Chris. ‘This is a man who has been through the mill more than once in his life, has learned to live with uncertainty, brought on by cancer – and yet a man who still delivers nothing less than 100% with his fantastic voice over 100 times per year. His concerts are nothing less than fabulous and the entertainment value he brings makes most of today’s TV shows pale into insignificance. Joe has been walked over, left over, left out in the cold and denied his rightful place on our TV screens regularly in the UK for too long. This book, I hope, will show all of those involved in the world of the box in the corner of our rooms just why he should be back! Why would any of us want to sit through hours and hours of mindless ‘reality’ when a real star is being so wilfully ignored?’ Chris is currently 55,000 words in to Joe’s autobiography. ‘Only another 35,000 to go! That means I’m nearly two-thirds of the way there! I hope you’ve got your Kleenex handy because there will be a number of times you will need it as you read his story.’  Chris is looking forward to the launch of Joe’s book next year too, and there is a rumour that his acoustic act, with Mick Clarke, could be playing as an opener at some of Joe’s concerts next year. Chris is also lead singer/rhythm guitarist with melodic party/functions rock band FOG, lead singer/rhythm guitarist with FOG ACOUSTIC and CMC – both acoustic acts, as well as playing solo simply as CHRIS BERRY. Chris Berry – the Joe Longthorne book – Latest 29 November, 2009

November 29, 2009

Chris Berry, lead singer with FOG, FOG ACOUSTIC, CMC and solo artist in his own right, is also a renowned journalist/writer. Chris has written for the YORKSHIRE POST for over 20 years and is currently writing the autobiography of his good friend and fellow singer JOE LONGTHORNE.

Joe Longthorne with fans Sandy & Mona

Chri Berry - singer & writer

‘Joe is without doubt the best in his field,’ says Chris. ‘On Saturday night he wowed a packed concert hall in the North East and by Christmas he will have played over 80 dates yet again this year. His brand of big ballad numbers and all-round entertainment is something that no other performer in the UK can match. His story is a rollercoaster ride of emotion, funny happenings, family loyalties, disasters, tragedy, excess and success. The book THE JOE LONGTHORNE OFFICIAL AUTOBIOGRAPHY will not hold back on any of that, so readers might need to make sure they’ve a few handkerchiefs ready because there will be tears!’ Following months of interviews and research work the word count for the book now stands at 48,000. ‘I’m now well over half way with the book and it is certainly attracting a good deal of interest,’ says Chris. ‘We are confident that Joe’s story is certainly worth a great deal of media interest and we hope that Alan Titchmarsh, Graham Norton, Alan Carr, Loose Women, The One Show, Paul O’Grady and all other reputable interview shows on TV will invite Joe on to their programes – ideally in late March in line with the book launch.  I started officially writing the book 3 weeks ago, so another 3 weeks should see it close to completion.’ The publishers are Great Northern Books, quite appropriate for Joe as he is a great northern born & bred star!  Chris is also very busy too with his own acts. Joe Longthorne gets to 37,500 words – book latest!

November 22, 2009

Joe Longthorne, one of the UK’s greatest singers and live entertainers, is currently involved with the publishing of his first-ever official autobiography.

Joe in concert earlier this year

It is being ‘ghosted’ by his friend and fellow singer/writer Chris Berry, who also comes from Hull originally. ‘This week saw Joe’s story reach 37,500 words,’ says Chris. ‘Having interviewed Joe continuously throughout the year I now have several dossiers of information about his life and it makes for a hugely entertaining read! I know all of his legions of fans will not want to miss this, his first time ever in putting down his life story. It is packed with emotional upheaval, the highs of reaching 12 million people a week through his TV shows, to the lows of being at death’s door, or penniless, or in a bad state of mentally. But Joe is nothing if not honest and the affrays, the bankruptcies, the court cases, his love life, in some cases his sex life, his cancer, his life saving operation – none of that is shirked here. Of course, for legal reasons, there are some who Joe cannot put into print the exact words he feels, as they might land him up in court again. Those people will know who they are when they come to certain parts of the book! Joe has – it seems – been right royally stuffed (that could even be another word, I’ll leave you to fill in your own word in place of stuffed) by a number of people over the years! Everyone who has ever come across Joe will want to read this book!’  Chris is well on the way to the target length of the book, which will be around 90,000 words and it will be published in March 2010 by Great Northern Books. Joe is currently undertaking his Autumn/Winter tour and this week will play Southport on Wednesday 25 November & Whitley Bay on Saturday 28 November.
